Joan Marie Clavey

Joan Marie Clavey, 92, of Waukegan formerly of Gurnee passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at home surrounded by her family. Joan was born on Friday, December 22, 1933, to the late George and Edith (nee Carney) Tessman. She married her highschool sweetheart, Orville St. Peter "Pat" Clavey, on May 11, 1957, at St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan. Joan graduated from Holy Child High School in 1951, was a member of Gurnee Community Church, and a longtime member of the "Snooty Clique." She loved spending time with her family, especially hosting their family get-togethers. 

Joan is survived by her loving family, one son and daughter-in-law, George (Kari) Clavey; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean (David) Hengesh; three grandchildren, Christina Britton, Daniel (Daniella) Hengesh, and Kimberly (Giorgio) Mantzoros; two great grandchildren, Jett Britton and Aria Britton; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Pat Clavey; her beloved son, Glenn Clavey; and one brother, Edward Tessman.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, from 10-11am, at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee, IL. Funeral services will take place at 11am following the visitation at church with Rev. Brian K. Walter officiating. Burial at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee, IL.
